In the 1980s, speech compression and audio peripherals were mainly concentrated in the education and special needs market. As a standard product for these industries, Echo Digital Audio Corporation’s technology is supported by more than 100 educational publishers in the industry.

Twenty years back, the company made a big impact in the Personal Computer market via the debut of its first sound board device. Since that time and for the past 15 years, Echo has been actively developing several audio technologies such as multi-track recording devices, reference designs for different DSP-based audio products, audio ASICs, and DSP system application and drivers.

The company licensed its DSP technology to different semiconductor manufacturers including leaders in the multimedia industry. Some of the well established enterprises to take advantage of the technology developed by Echo include Dolby Laboratories, Mackie, VLSI, Sony, Rockwell, Peavey, Motorola, Asahi (AKM), Hewlett-Packard, and Analog Devices.

These licensing agreements were based on the reputation the company has built in the area of design and development of numerous high end digital audio technology devices and solutions.

By 1997 Echo Digital Audio Corporation released to the computer market a suite of professional digital audio products catering to recording and multi-channel playback solutions. The company has consistently delivered to the market cutting-edge solutions that cater to the residential, studio musicians, and the broadcast industry requirements.

Its products also support requisites of the home entertainment market including those of different OEM producers. The product portfolio of Echo leverages its extensive technical expertise in both the DSP audio and PC markets.

The company delivers to the IT market various computer peripherals that can be hosted on the Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) interface of the computer system motherboard. This add-on card provides basic desktop computer systems with the ability to emulate professional recording systems. For portable computer systems, the company introduced the Audio CardBus (Notebook Pro Audio) devices. The company also produced FireWire based professional recording systems for computer machines that allow connection to the FireWire port.

Echo Digital products are supported by the Mac OS and the Microsoft Windows Operating System platforms. The company is also an active contributor to the High-Definition Audio-Video Network Alliance (HANA) based in the United States.

Some of the milestones in the company’s rich history are: April 8, 2002 where it participated in the launch of the Microsoft Windows Media Player 9; October 30, 2002 the company undertook Digital Cinema installations for the Apollo Theater; on March 13, 2003 it launched the MiaMIDI with full Mac OS X support; in July 17 of the same year the new Indigo products were released; on January 15, 2004 its new FireWire product line with AMD64 platform support was introduced; launched at the Apple Developer’s Conference on June 28, 2004 its new FireWorks technology; and secured Cross-Licensing Agreement with LOUD Technologies on August 19, 2004.
