Company Name: DysanDescription: In 1973, Dysan Corporation was established in Markham, Ontarion, Canada by Norman Dion. The company is focused in manufacturing storage devices. The well-known product that has been produced by the company is the 5.25” floppy disk that was launched in 1976. Dysan also manufactures storage containers and hardware.
Despite of the company’s success, Norman Dion sold the company in 1973 to Xidex Magnetics. The company then again merged with Anacomp Inc. which is another US-based company in the late 1980s.
Dysan was then acquired in 1990 by Hanny Magnetics, a Hong Kong based company. The acquisition was made in accordance with micro computer products. Unfortunately, the company has to stop its operations in 1997 due to bankruptcy.
In May of 2008, the company was then re-opened bearing the name Dysan Products Europe, Ltd. The company was restored with the help of Hanny Holdings Group. Dysan Products Europe, Ltd. is a company with its own identity separating itself from Hanny Holdings Group its parent company. The company then became the foundation for rotating magnetic media development. Ever since the company was re-established, it operated in Middlesex, United Kingdom specifically in West Drayton.
At present, the company is successfully manufacturing a whole magnetic recording media product line that is needed for memory storage. In addition to the products that were produced in 1973, the company also manufactures different computer-related products. These include the following products: memory cards, diskettes, CD, DVDs, Inkjets, Solid State Memory and the like.
Dysan Corporation has several competitors which are 3M, Verbatim, Kao Infosystems, Hitachi, Megamedia, Fuji, TDK, Sony and BASF. 3M is the company’s biggest competitor where in 3M holds more than 17% of the market.
The floppy disk that was manufactured by the company are 3"5' MF2HD "Vision" DOS Formatted, 3"5' MF2HD "Classic" DOS Formatted and 3"5' MF2HD "Rainbow" DOS Formatted. The DVD storage devices that were manufactured by the company are DVD+RW 4.7 GB, DVD-R 4.7 GB and DVD+R 4.7 GB.
The company was also able to manufacture Flash and Smart Media devices. These are composed of the 128mb Smart Media Card, Universal 512mb Ultra Compact Flash Memory Card, Universal 512mb Compact Flash Memory Card and Multimedia 256mb Compact Flash Memory Card.
