DeLorme is credited for being the pioneer in the exploration of the possibilities of deploying GPS (Global Positioning System) applications in laptop computer systems. The Earthmate GPS LT-40 was one of the more popular products to be released by the company to the IT market during the 1990s.

DeLorme’s involvement in the GIS (Geographic Information System) market was boosted with the release of the XMap product line in 2001. This product made the use of GIS technology more popular in various fields of endeavor.
The following year the scope of the XMap product line was further increased by DeLorme by the introduction of the HandHeld Street Atlas Edition. This applications upgrade allowed XMap users to install the applications onto Palm OS and Pocket PC based devices.
This functionality gave the user instant access to the navigation software from their mobile devices. This technology is widely incorporated in modern automotive and telecommunication industry via GPS navigation systems.
The company’s innovation continued in 2005 with the market debut of the Earthmate GPS LT-20. This application is considered as the first truly affordable GPS receiver in the computer market.
Along with this technological advancement, the company also made big leaps in the development of its Aerial Data Packets products. These packets basically gave users access to editable satellite and aerial imagery that can be used in relation with the Topo USA program.
The Earthmate GPS BT-20 and the Earthmate GPS PN-20 was introduced to the market in 2007. When deployed in combination with the Street Atlas USA and the Topo USA applications produced a completely efficient, functional, and portable high tech device like the iPod. It also vastly improved the performance of the DeLorme UPS system.
