The company is directly involved in the manufacturing of Integrated Circuits (IC) products which are used in the production of various consumer products and electronics that focuses in the areas of audio, video, and data transfer including Internet communication support products.

The company’s products are cost effective allowing them to actively compete with other manufacturers in the field of communications and networking solutions. Davicom has established a reputation as the market leader in the delivery of WAN (Wide Area Network) and LAN (Local Area Network) chips. The company also diversifies into the field of Fast Ethernet and Ethernet chipsets that are normally delivered to OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) in the networking and telecommunications industry.

Ting Hehr presently serves as the company’s Chief Executive Officer while KR Pan functions in the capacity of President. The original plan of the company was to concentrate its efforts solely on the Taiwanese market. However, with its continued growth and popularity in the industry, there was a high demand for its products in the international IT market. The company began distributing its chipsets to modem, media converter, home networking, and Internet support device manufacturers.

On January 4, 1999 the company’s expansion into the world market was highlighted with its acquisition of the NETiO Technologies Inc. NETiO was a company that specialized in Ethernet switch technology. With this acquisition, the company was able to boost its product portfolio by incorporating NETiO’s technology with its own natively developed technology. Davicom was also able to tap into the core technology of NETiO for the implementation of Fast Ethernet and Ethernet switching semiconductors.

Presently Davicom has subsidiaries and outsourcing partners not only within Taiwan but also in various parts of Asia and the United States. Davicom currently has 83,386,020 outstanding shares and generated approximately 608 million Taiwanese dollars in 2007.

The company is currently focusing its efforts into the research on embedded systems with particular focus on the development of ICs which can address the requirements of the speech transmission market. Davicom aims to provide speech transmission solutions using high speed communication networks.

Additional investments undertaken by the company include more focus on the delivery of multimedia content and other emerging Internet based technologies. The company also aims to take advantage of various developments in the fields of wired and wireless hardware solutions which can be integrated into their chip designs.

Davicom intends to bring to the market smaller chipsets that can be incorporated into specific miniature network devices. The company is also looking into the possibility of developing non-PCI based Fast Ethernet single chip devices that only have 48 pins and would be considered as one of the smallest in the computer world.

The microchip technology is seen by the company as an area where it can produce more developments that can cater to the processes of Internet switches and other major system processes.

The company also reluctantly entered the Asia Pacific market due to its fear of large industry competitors. The company has been a positive factor in the improvement of DSL transmission technologies in the area primarily due to the incorporation of its chipsets in various modem and communication peripherals distributed in the region.
