By the 1980s Data Translation Inc. was able to take advantage of the various emerging technologies in the field of Integrated Circuit (IC) designs. During the 1990s the company introduced into the computer market its very first frame grabbers which have become the industry standards for Flash ADC Converters. These frame grabbers gave PCs the ability to capture and to process images using camera devices.

Data Translation Inc. was also responsible for the introduction of the Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) in the IT market. Via this technology, the company also produced the very first PCI-based data acquisition desktop computer add-on card. By 1999 the company also became the pioneer in the introduction USB based products that are supported by the plug and play functionality of newer operating system environments.

The company expanded its product portfolio in 2001 by initiating the release of applications that supported its various hardware technologies catering to machine vision, imaging, and data acquisition. This drive saw the presence of the Measure Foundry and Vision Foundry in the computer market as the company’s version of the vision, test, and measurement builder software. These applications provide users with the ability of creating measurement programs regardless of knowledge in programming.

This application also featured drag and drop functionality along with the combination of property pages that support the creation of measurement solution packages in minimal time. Come 2005, Data Translation introduced the ECONseries which is a relatively new package of tools that can deploy complex measurement solutions using laptop computer systems. This series features eight mini-instruments that are bundled with the Go! software distributed by the company.

The following year the company released the fastest instantaneous USB based data acquisition device which featured a 2MHz throughput rate per channel. By 2007 an add-on to the Measure Foundry was released to the market allowing its users access to easy and quick configuration for the LXI instrumentation capabilities via IVI-COM drivers. By the late part of the year the TEMPpoint product line was also introduced as an easy to use temperature measurement solution that features unmatched accuracy in the industry.
