Description: Originally created in 1986 as AJP Business Computers Ltd., the company made its mark as a promising computer company that specialized in the manufacturing of All-in-One-Concept PC systems. Subsequently, the company took on the name of AJP Computers Plc and maintained its focus on the production of notebook computer systems with advanced specifications.

The company’s products featured integration of innovative technologies coupled with competitive market pricing. The company maintains its headquarters in London, England.

Part of AJP’s success in the IT market can be partly attributed to its excellent crop of management executives. This elite team of leaders includes Peter Ioannou (General Manger) and John Ioannou (Chief Financial Officer). These brothers took their background in Electronics and Electrical Engineering (which they earned in 1983) including an MSC degree in Information Technology to build the foundation for their company.

The brother’s expertise made its mark in the computer market when AJP became one of the very first companies to release to the IT world a new generation of notebook and desktop platform computer systems. These machines used flat screen LCD based technology which was the basis for most home and business computing machines today.

Recognition of the company’s efforts came in 1997 when AJP was given the Special Achievement Award for Business by PC Direct. The award highlighted the company’s contributions in the notebook computing industry.

Based on the statistics of PC Direct, the company has become one of the biggest vendors of notebook computer system in the United Kingdom market. From this point on, AJP continued to increase its market share and by June of 1998 the company had gained its PLC status which symbolized its secured financial status and corporate growth.

Other citations which are a testament to the company’s products and business practices include Best Notebook of the Year in 1999, Best Buy from August 1998 to February 1999, Awards for Notebooks from 1997 to 2000, and The Best SubNotebook of the Year in 2002. These awards were conferred by recognized experts in the IT industry, PC Advisor and PC Direct.

Along with these awards and recognitions, AJP Computers Plc has also reached several achievements during its existence. The company launched into the IT market the first ever notebook system that bundled specialized devices. These devices that were incorporated into the system as value added products include MP3 Players, IP sharing functionality, and TV Tuners supported by corresponding software applications.

AJP was also the first manufacturing company to bring to the market a Pentium 4 based notebook computer system that hosted speed of up to 2GHz. It also pioneered the first notebook with built-in functionality for Internet connectivity. Other firsts include the launching of the Intel Pentium III 700MHz based notebook system, the use of a 10.4 inch TFT wide-screen, and the mini notebook powered by an Intel Pentium based processor.
